Titanium diboride coatings formation at polarization of titanium anode in chloride melt containing low amounts of boron oxide

The corrosive-electrochemical behavior of titanium in the cesium and sodium chlorides molten eutectic mixture containing up to 1 wt.% of boron oxide at 810-870 K under the argon atmosphere was studied. The potentials, currents, and corrosion rate of titanium were determined. The optimal conditions for formation of the dense uniform titanium diboride coating with high adhesion to metallic base in the process of anodic activation of titanium in the tested molten electrolyte were found.
